Legacy Week is a time when Legacy sells its iconic badges and other merchandise to raise funds for the vital work it does for families of veterans. Legacy Week is always the first week of September and has been held since World War II.
Volunteers from HMAS Moreton in Brisbane took the opportunity to support Legacy last week by getting out and about amongst the local community at Bulimba, and also deploying a workforce into the city of Brisbane to sell Legacy badges and bears.
The group of volunteers was also privileged to attend a Legacy presentation by the Brisbane Legacy CEO Mr Brendan Cox at Aurizon.
The presentation provided an overview and general awareness about Legacy and the role they play within the community.
Able Seaman Jo-Ann Limbrick said it was great to be able to contribute time to the important cause.
“It was great to get away from the desk for the day and support Legacy.
“The community were friendly and happy to donate towards a worthy cause.
“Members from the community shared stories with me about how proud they were of family members serving our nation,” Able Seaman Limbrick said.
A notable mention must go to the staff at Defence Force Recruiting in Brisbane for their generous support to Legacy with donations and the purchase of Legacy merchandise.
