While Australians paused to commemorate the Bombing of Darwin recently, there was a particular Australian Navy sailor whose actions on 19 February 1942 were keenly remembered.

Descending the ladder into a submarine was no trouble for Royal Navy veteran, 92-year old Robert Pitman, when the spritely nonagenarian visited HMAS Dechaineux alongside her home port in Western Australia recently.

The Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service celebrated its 35th birthday on 29 January this year - one of many support services available to serving and former serving Defence personnel.

Ensuring a future for women in the workplace in Afghanistan comes with challenges one Navy officer is aiming to meet - increasing participation of women in the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police, and ensuring they do so in a safe and culturally accepting workplace.
