The Royal Australian Navy and Indian Navy on the field during a soccer game at the HMAS Stirling as part of Exercise AUSINDEX 2017.

The sport of soccer is currently undergoing a resurgence at Fleet Base West, in Rockingham, after a busy 18 month period that has seen the team based at HMAS Stirling creating a strong impression in the local competition as well as against visiting ship’s teams.

HMAS Stirling recently hosted an international contingent of submarine rescue officers who were ‘taught and assessed’ on the planning and coordination considerations in the event of a stricken submarine incident requiring rescue.

Three members of Fleet Support Unit West, at HMAS Stirling in Rockingham, have completed a successful six-week secondment programme designed to develop their technical skills paving exciting developments for the future of Navy’s technical capability.

Family and friends of the crew of HMAS Ballarat wave to their loved ones as the ship pulls alongside to her home port of Fleet Base West, Western Australia, at the completion of a four month South East Asia deployment.

HMAS Ballarat has sailed into her home port of Fleet Base West in Rockingham, Western Australia, to a large gathering of family and friends after completing a three month deployment to South East Asia and; participating in Exercise TALISMAN SABER off the Australian coast.

Air Force Logistics Manager, Flight Lieutenant Russell Cocks hands over a combined spray booth and baking oven to Chief Petty Officer Michael Knott, at a ceremony held at the HMAS Stirling Fleet Support Unit's Surface Finishing section, completing a transfer of the booth from the Air Force to the Navy.

It was a case of ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ when HMAS Stirling’s Fleet Support Unit West, commissioned a spray booth and oven from the Royal Australian Air Force, saving Defence thousands of dollars in replacement costs.
