HMAS Brisbane has used a long transit across the Pacific Ocean to rendezvous with the French Marine Nationale warship FNS Vendemiaire for joint training, meeting in the waters of Noumea, New Caledonia.

In 1998, the Royal Australian Navy became the fourth Navy in the world to permit women to serve in submarines. Then in 1999, some of those women earned the prestigious ‘Dolphins’ qualification to become our Navy’s first fully-fledged submariners.
