HMAS Arunta and Sirius arrive alongside in Subic Bay, Philippines as part of the ships North East Asian deployment.

HMA Ships Arunta and Sirius are in Subic Bay in the Philippines for a five-day visit. The short break from sea will give the ships’ companies an opportunity to continue their association with Filipino colleagues and experience Philippines culture and sights.

The uncharacteristic hot and hazy conditions in the South China Sea set the back drop for a planning for a passage exercise between Australia and Singapore. HMAS Sirius welcomed Operations Officers from Singaporean ships RSS Supreme and RSS Valiant and Australian frigate, HMAS Arunta, to develop a plan for interactions between the four ships.

The inaugural maritime exercise between Australia and India, AUSINDEX15, recently held off India, provided an exciting opportunity for a select few to sample life in the others' Navy.

Able Seaman Maritime Logistics Support Operations Jessica Gunning is on board HMAS Sirius currently, providing hospitality services for the ship’s company. Her core role includes daily food preparation and service, coordinating official functions held on board HMAS Sirius and acting as the Commanding Officer's Valet.

While in the Philippines for a recent port visit, Commanding Officer HMAS Sirius, Commander Darren Grogan, Australian Defence Attaché to the Philippines Colonel Bruce Murray and Commanding Officer HMAS Arunta Commander Cameron Steil were pleased to host members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and distinguished guests onboard Arunta for an official reception.

Leading Seaman Electronics Technician Gerard Reeves dazzles the opposition with his fancy footwork during a friendly football game against the Malaysian Navy during a visit to Kemaman, Malaysia.

One month into their North East Asian deployment HMA Ships Arunta and Sirius joined forces to take on the Royal Malaysian Navy in a friendly game of soccer during a port visit to Kemaman. It was a hotly contested game with both teams demonstrating a high level of competitiveness however it was the Malaysians who came out on top winning 3-1.

Lieutenant Commander Peter Russell and Leading Seaman Daniel Taylor present a $2000 donation from HMAS Sirius to Susan Anderson from Beyond Blue.

HMAS Sirius hosted a representative from Beyond Blue and the mental health staff from HMAS Stirling onboard in April, to donate a fundraising cheque for $2000 dollars, share a BBQ and have a general meet and greet.
