Over 118 kilograms of heroin with a street value of AUD $114 million was confisicated by HMAS Melbourne while on operations in the Middle East region. These drugs were discovered onboard a fishing vessel intercepted by HMAS Melbourne in the Indian Ocean. After being seized the illegal narcotics were transferred to HMAS Melbourne for analysis and disposal at sea.
Melbourne personnel have completed a fourth successful drug seizure after seizing more than 100 kilograms of heroin from a fishing vessel in the Indian Ocean.
