Navy played host to a number of Indonesian Navy members recently when a Maritime Operations Working Group was held in Western Australia.
The event consisted of a number of discussions and tours, focusing on both surface and sub-surface maritime warfare.
Senior Officer HMAS Rankin, Commander Mark Daly said the Indonesian Navy contingent comprised a number of senior officers, including Vice Assistant Chief of Operations First Admiral Yusup SE.
“The Admiral and the other Indonesian Navy officers were particularly interested in learning about submariner training at the Submarine Training and Systems Centre,” he said.
“The group also visited the Austal shipyard at Henderson, where they were given tours of a patrol boat from each of the Guardian and Cape classes.”
“The Maritime Operations Working Group provided Navy an excellent opportunity to showcase some of our activities here in Western Australia to the Indonesian Navy, while enhancing interoperability between our two countries,” Commander Daly said.
The Maritime Operations Working Group Indonesian contingent was hosted by the Royal Australian Navy’s Director General Maritime Operations Commodore Matthew Buckley during their stay in Australia.
