With swords drawn, band playing, drums beating and flags flying, the cadets, instructors and officers of Training Ship Pioneer exercised their right to Freedom of Entry to the City of Mackay this month, as part of 60th anniversary celebrations for the Australian Navy Cadets unit.

The officers and sailors of Royal Australian Navy Survey Ship HMAS Benalla (II) have visited the ship’s namesake city of Benalla, Victoria to conduct their first Freedom of Entry march in over 15 years.

HMAS Newcastle has sailed into her namesake city for the final time after 25 years of faithful service, steaming more than 900,000 miles and gaining battle honours in East Timor, the Solomon Islands and the Persian Gulf.
