The Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force and the Royal Australian Navy held a memorial service during the harbour phase of Exercise KAKADU to commemorate the lives lost in Darwin by both sides during the Second World War.

The Commander of the Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Tim Barrett, recently presented the 2013 Governor’s Cup to its proud recipients, the Ship’s Company of HMAS Coonawarra. The Governor’s Cup is awarded to the Shore Establishment that has excelled in all aspects of operations, safety, training and support to the Fleet.
