Last Friday, members of the Systems Training School at HMAS Watson got out their purple t-shirts to celebrate diversity, support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex members of the Navy family and wider community, and to raise awareness for the challenges they face.
Last year Navy took the bold step of embracing simulation in an area that many thought was ‘a sacred cow’. The decision to award the Bridge Warfare Certificate (BWC) using simulation ashore represented an enormous shift in the way that Navy trained Junior Warfare Application Course officers.
Principal Warfare Officer’s (PWO) Course 50 students will be the first to graduate with one of three new warfare specialisations.
Last Friday, staff and students at the Royal Australian Navy’s Systems Training School (STS) at HMAS Watson came together in solidarity to demonstrate its support of the White Ribbon campaign.
The Weapons Electrical Engineering and Warfare Communities have embraced Training Force’s first priority to increase the use of simulation in training by establishing a pilot Anzac Mk3 Fire Control Officer (FCO) Endorsement Course.
