Friday 11 July saw Commander Simon Cannell hand over command of the Anzac Class Frigate HMAS Parramatta to Commander Andrew Willis amongst a South Pacific setting.

HMAS Parramatta recently conducted a port visit to Port Vila, Vanuatu in support of Operation SOLANIA, which aims to assist South Pacific Islands in protecting their own fisheries and natural resources to foster economic development and stability in the South Pacific region.

The forecastle party on HMAS Parramatta prepare the ship for berthing in Noumea, New Caledonia during a port visit as part of Operation Solania.

HMAS Parramatta conducted a port visit to Noumea, New Caledonia as part of Operation SOLANIA which supports the policing of the Economic Exclusion Zones of Pacific Island countries. While in New Caledonia, Parramatta conducted exercises with French Navy Ship (FNS) Vendémaire, and other units based New Caledonia.

Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Parramatta visited Noumea, New Caledonia between Friday 27 and Sunday 29 June before commencing a patrol as part of Operation SOLANIA.

The Parramatta Council Colouring Competition winners and their parents with the Commanding Officer HMAS Parramatta, Commander Simon Cannell, RAN; The Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr John Chedid; and Deputy Mayor Paul Garrard while onboard HMAS Parramatta.

Last week six children, their families and the Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Councillor John Chedid, were treated to a tour of one of the Royal Australian Navy’s Sydney-based Anzac class frigates HMAS Parramatta.

Sub Lieutenant Louella Yu onboard HMAS Parramatta gets into the Christmas spirit, prior to conducting border protection patrols in northern Australian waters this holiday period.

When 26 year old Louella Yu finished her Mechatronics Engineering degree at UTS Sydney, she was pretty sure she didn’t want a regular office job. This Christmas, she will be a long way from a regular office - taking part in border protection operations onboard HMAS Parramatta, assigned to Operation RESOLUTE.

Able Seaman Melissa Gay from Stawell country Victoria is truly into the Christmas spirit onboard HMAS Parramatta.

Christmas came early at Lenny and Jackie Gay’s Stawell household a few months ago, when the Gay family swapped gifts and had an early Christmas dinner before daughter Melissa deployed aboard HMAS Parramatta.
