When Australian students contemplate their future careers, many have had little hands-on experience with the choices available, so for a group of Western Australian youngsters, the chance to try Navy on for size was a very real decision-making tool.

In late May, HMAS Watson hosted two high school students as part of the Navy Work Experience Program, which included work within the Watson galley, as well as rotations through other sections of the base, including the Bridge Simulator and Health Clinic.

Indigenous students from Western NSW and Naval staff visit HMAS Parramatta as part of a work placement programme.

Sixteen students from rural and remote areas of NSW were treated to a week of activities showcasing Defence careers as part of the Indigenous Student Defence Work Experience Program conducted from July 14-19.
