A beach on the west side of Garden Island - an area south of Perth that houses HMAS Stirling and Fleet Base West - has had 200kg of flotsam (floating debris) removed as part of an environmental program organised by the Collins Submarines Program Office (COLSPO).

The close relationship between HMAS Stirling and the local constabulary was formally recognised recently when Rockingham Police Command was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Stirling Executive Officer Commander Larry Menon.

A group of eight young people with submarine careers in their sights were treated to a close-up encounter with a Collins class submarine at Australia’s largest Navy base recently as part of a national competition run by Defence Force Recruiting.
