Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Melbourne is returning home to Australia after completing more than 50 boarding operations and seizing almost a tonne of heroin during a Middle Eastern deployment.

HMAS Melbourne nets another $64 million of heroin

Over 216 kilograms of heroin with a street value of AUD$64 million was confisicated by HMAS Melbourne while on operations in the Middle East Region. These drugs were discovered onboard a fishing vessel intercepted by HMAS Melbourne. After being siezed the illegal narcotics were transferred to HMAS Melbourne for analysis and disposal at sea. Over 216 kilograms of heroin with a street value of AUD$64 million was confisicated by HMAS Melbourne while on operations in the Middle East Region. These drugs were discovered onboard a fishing vessel intercepted by HMAS Melbourne. After being siezed the illegal narcotics were transferred to HMAS Melbourne for analysis and disposal at sea.

HMAS Melbourne has struck a third time against the trafficking of narcotics in the Middle East confiscating another 216 kilograms of high-grade heroin worth an estimated $64 million.

The Gloucester Cup presented to HMAS Success.

Pouring rain did not dampen the pride of all present when His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK, MC (Retd) Governor General of Australia presented HMAS Success with the Royal Australian Navy’s most prestigious annual award for outstanding performance, the Gloucester Cup.

Recently the prestigious Gloucester Cup was presented to HMAS Anzac’s ship's company, now embarked in HMAS Stuart by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO.
