HMAS Penguin has continued its annual tradition of inviting the people of Mosman and the Northern Beaches to a reception to thank the community for their ongoing support, and an opportunity for locals to learn more about Penguin’s mission and get a taste of Navy culture with a Beat to Quarters and Ceremonial Sunset.

A traditional naval ceremony held with the backdrop of a peaceful Timor-Leste sunset was a fitting finale to a program of cooperation, commemoration and celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Australian-led International Force East Timor (INTERFET) deployment.

In a night steeped in Naval tradition, the flight deck of HMAS Brisbane was transformed as the Commanding Officer welcomed his guest of honour, the Governor of Queensland His Excellency The Honourable Paul de Jersey AC onboard.
