Chief Petty Officer Paul O'Keefe celebrates his 40th year in the Royal Australian Navy in the Junior Sailors Cafe aboard HMAS Newcastle in the Middle East region.

Forty years of dedicated service by Chief Petty Officer Marine Technician Paul ‘Jock’ O’Keefe was recently celebrated by the crew of HMAS Newcastle, deployed to the Middle East region.

In 1973, the Sydney Opera House opened, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon was released, Gough Whitlam was Prime Minister, and the Watergate hearings began in the United States.  It was also the year that Ian Rigby, walked into HMAS Leeuwin as a 15-year-old to start his naval career.

Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO, CSC, presents Commander Mick Brice with his 3rd Federation Star and certificate at Russell Offices, Canberra.

After 52 years in the Royal Australian Navy, Commander Mick Brice has received a third Federation Star, and seventh clasp to the Defence Long Service Medal, to recognise his continuing long service to the Navy and Australia.

Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Tim Barrett has presented a second Federation Star to a Navy officer who has undertaken over 45 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy.

Lieutenant Gavin 'Russ' Benham was awarded his Federation Star by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett at Headquarters Defence Force Recruiting in Fairbairn, ACT.

Lieutenant Benham was presented a Federation Star, recognising the forty year milestone, by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett in a small ceremony at Headquarters Defence Force Recruiting, Canberra, among co-workers, friends and with his wife Danielle by his side.

Commander Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Stuart Mayer presents Petty Officer Anthony 'Timber' Mills with his fifth clasp, the Federation Star, of the Defence Force Service Medal, for 40 years continuous service.

Petty Officer Anthony ‘Timber’ Mills Joined the Royal Australian Navy as an Adult Recruit on 5 February 1974 at the age of 17, and this year has reached 40 years of continuous service.

Chief Petty Officer Richard 'Blue' Timms is presented his Federation Star by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs, AO, CSC, RAN recognising over 40 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy.

Chief Petty Officer Richard Timms was recently presented with a Federation Star in recognition of over 40 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy. The star was presented by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs as family and colleagues from HMAS Creswell looked on.
