The Deputy Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Michael van Balen AO, RAN, presents Midshipman Dean Gilbert, RAN with the Chief of Navy prize at the ADFA Graduation Parade. The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) held its graduation parade on Thursday December 10, 2015. 240 officer cadets and midshipmen graduated from their military training and tertiary education at the Academy.

In one of his final ceremonial tasks as Deputy Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Michael van Balen AO, RAN, presented Midshipman Dean Gilbert, with the Chief of Navy Prize at the Australian Defence Force Academy Graduation Parade on 10 December.

On 11 December, 220 midshipmen and officer cadets graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy. For one midshipman, graduation marked the start of a career that will have her following in her father's footsteps.

Recently, White Ribbon Ambassadors of the Australian Capital Territory gathered in the Academy Cadet’s Mess at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) to engage with one another and discuss current issues Australia faces in relation to violence against women.

On Saturday, the Australian Defence Force Academy held its annual Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) Parade. The CDF Parade is significant to the Academy as it formally welcomes and inducts first year Midshipmen and Officer Cadets into the Academy undergraduate body.

The Australian Defence Force Academy held its graduation parade on Thursday 12 December 2013. 265 Midshipmen and Officer Cadets graduated from their military training and tertiary education at the Academy.

Throwing their hats in the air today marked not only the end of their training and studies at the Australian Defence Force Academy but also the start of a new phase in the military careers of 265 Midshipmen and Officer Cadets.

Since graduating the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) New Entry Officers' Course (NEOC) at HMAS Creswell this year, myself and four other Midshipmen began the Naval Officer Year One Engineering Program (NOYO-EN).

ADFA Midshipman Nam Nguyen has returned from the Global Voices Delegation to the Global Security Conference and Shangri-La Dialogue held on April 18-21 this year. Since returning MIDN Nguyen is now looking forward to seeing his research paper on Australian Maritime Contributions to Conflict Prevention in the next (July) edition of the ADF Journal.
