Hundreds of Navy people can attest to the gratitude they felt to be sent a handcrafted, volunteer-made quilt while deployed on operations. Now after eight years supporting Navy people, Mrs Jan-Maree Ball, leader of Aussie Hero Quilts, has been presented with a quilt of her own.

Serving Navy members from HMAS Stirling recently attended their former school, Comet Bay College in Secret Harbour, Western Australia, as the college acknowledged their service in the school’s Hall of Honour.

Following the experience of a lively monthly ‘Soundwaves’ concert at HMAS Cerberus last year, Mr Patrick Morel was most impressed, and soon after requested a concert at the Cumberland View Retirement Village for himself and his fellow residents.
The Navy Community Engagement team at HMAS Albatross has been faced with a few challenges in 2020, with the need to innovate new ways to ‘engage’ with the local community while adhering to social distancing conventions.

Every day across Australia someone, somewhere, needs the vital gift of blood. During National Blood Donor Week (14-20 June), Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is celebrating everyone who has helped to make the gift of blood possible in Australia.
HMAS Albatross usually marks National Reconciliation Week by hosting and participating in a range of community events throughout the Shoalhaven, but distancing requirements meant personnel had to consider how to embrace the 2020 theme ‘In This Together’ while physically being apart.

Garden Island, WA is not only home to Navy’s largest base, HMAS Stirling, but also to unique fauna and flora - including a variety of tree that stands out from the rest, mainly because of its bright blue paint.
