When Maritime Warfare Officer Midshipman Samantha Horsfield posted to NUSHIP Sydney this year, she became the third generation of her family to serve in a ship bearing one of the Royal Australian Navy’s most famous and historic names.

Senior Australian Defence Force personnel and veterans of the Indonesian Confrontation (1962-66) gathered at Garden Island, Sydney on Saturday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Embarkation of Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force personnel into HMAS Sydney (III), destined for Malaysia.
