The Bridge Training Faculty at HMAS Watson, on the south head of Sydney Harbour, has used simulation systems to deliver effective training to sailors and officers throughout Navy for years but recently the ability to increase training throughput with simulation has been given a boost.

Commander Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Stuart Mayer, AM, CSC and Bar, RAN, and Commander Information Warfare Force, Commodore Braddon Wheeler, RAN, (centre) with personnel that are now part of the Information Warfare Force at HMAS Kuttabul.

An important step in delivering Navy’s future warfare effects was achieved in Sydney on 1 July with the establishment of a specific organisation to focus on information warfare.

Aircraft Director Leading Seaman Aviation Support Charanpreet Anand controls a hot refuel of a S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopter from 816 Squadron, while a MRH90 Taipan helicopter of 808 Squadron conducts concurrent deck landings aboard HMAS Adelaide, in the East Australian Exercise Area off the coast of NSW.

Following a period of maintenance, HMAS Adelaide sailed from Sydney’s Fleet Base East in July for trials with over 50 technical staff embarked to verify and validate the work undertaken during her dry dock.
