Navy personnel, emergency services and contractors respond to a crashex scenario near the HMAS Albatross airfield.

HMAS Albatross regularly conducts crash exercises, known as a ‘crashex’, around a range of emergency scenarios designed to ensure the ship’s company is ready to handle real incidents when they occur without notice.

Set within Navy’s 723 Squadron at HMAS Albatross, the Joint Helicopter School was designed to provide the foundation skills needed by future pilots, aircrew and Aviation Warfare Officers to operate the highly sophisticated combat helicopters used by the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army.

One of the major drawcards of a posting to HMAS Albatross is its proximity to some of the most beautiful national parks and beaches in the world - with more than 165km coastline along the Shoalhaven for personnel to explore.

HMA Ships Albatross and Creswell after completing the annual Relay For Life, at Nowra Showgrounds.

This year, teams from Navy establishments HMAS Albatross and HMAS Creswell were joined by members of 808 Squadron, along with 60 teams from the local community in the Shoalhaven Relay For Life.
