The Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service celebrated its 35th birthday on 29 January this year – one of many support services available to serving and former serving Defence personnel.

Commanding Officer HMAS Cerberus, Captain Steve Bowater, OAM, RAN presented a Young Diggers Dog Squad cheque for $31,306 to Chief Executive Officer of Defence Bank Mr John Linehan and Ms Leanne Kyle, Executive Manager of Defence Bank Foundation. The Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and his wife, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, also attended the presentation. Navy personnel at HMAS Cerberus have presented a cheque for more than $31,000 to the Defence Community Dogs program, which supports the training of therapy dogs to help veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Relief Trust Fund continues Christmas tradition

Every year the Royal Australian Navy Relief Trust Fund spreads Christmas cheer amongst Navy families allowing eligible service personnel to take out an interest-free loan of up to $1000.
