Serco Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Defence Force in support of Defence Reservists across all of its Australian operations in a move to better support employment of personnel who are members of both organisations.

Seaman Hydrographic Systems Operator Thomas Beddome grew up in rural Eudunda, on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Adelaide, an area renowned for producing fine wine, golden crops and livestock, never envisaging he would end up living on a ship.

Royal Australian Navy Lieutenant Doug Gilling (retd), 95, a former member of the Dominion Yachtsmen Scheme (DYS), unveiled a plaque dedicated to the DYS at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, on May 4, 2017.

One Dominion Yachtsmen Scheme participant, possibly the last one of the original 500, had a number of narrow escapes during the Second World War.

Minister for Defence Personnel, the Hon Dan Tehan MP has championed an investigation into the issue of unit recognition for service with the Royal Australian Navy Helicopter Flight Vietnam, and service at the Battles of Coral and Balmoral.
