HMAS Huon capped off a South West Pacific deployment recently with the final of six port visits to Hobart, Tasmania, and her nearby namesake city of Huonville.

The Australian Defence Force deployed humanitarian supplies in September to provide relief to communities displaced from Vanuatu’s Ambae Island with the island’s Manaro Volcano threatening to erupt.

Navy’s minehunter fleet were approaching the end of their planned service life but now have a Service Life Extension to 2035-38 and the challenge of working out the details to get there falls to Commander Glen Price, the man in charge of sustainment at the Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Systems Program Office at HMAS Waterhen.
