HMAS Choules, alongside in Noumea, New Caledonia, is preparing to conduct Exercise CROIX DU SUD 2018.

The RAN’s Amphibious landing ship HMAS Choules and Coastal Mine Hunters HMAS Gascoyne and Yarra have joined a French-led multinational force to participate in valuable disaster response training designed to increase Australia’s ability to operate alongside regional nations.

The Australian Defence Force deployed humanitarian supplies in September to provide relief to communities displaced from Vanuatu’s Ambae Island with the island’s Manaro Volcano threatening to erupt.

Navy’s minehunter fleet were approaching the end of their planned service life but now have a Service Life Extension to 2035-38 and the challenge of working out the details to get there falls to Commander Glen Price, the man in charge of sustainment at the Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Systems Program Office at HMAS Waterhen.

The Royal Australian Navy frigate helicopter HMAS Anzac (FFH 150) steams through the water as part of a large-scale amphibious assault during Talisman Saber 17.

With a potent mix of sophisticated sensors and human ingenuity, HMAS Anzac has ‘protected’ a maritime advance force consisting of hydrographic ships, coastal mine hunters and clearance divers at Freshwater Beach in Central Queensland as part of Exercise TALISMAN SABRE.
