Personnel from Navy Headquarters Tasmania recently joined a team of volunteers collecting for Hobart Legacy around the city’s CBD and neighbouring shopping centres. In an outstanding effort, the Navy team collected well over $1000 on their first day of volunteering.
These efforts were praised by Hobart Legacy Inc’s Senior Vice President, Mr Peter Woolford, when he presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Commanding Officer, Navy Headquarters Tasmania, CMDR Stacey Porter last Thursday.
“Legacy’s fundraising activities are always enhanced by support from enthusiastic young people in the military,” said Mr Woolford.
Being ex-Navy himself, Mr Woolford took an obvious pride in NHQ Tasmania’s achievements and expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support.
“This year is Legacy’s 90th anniversary. It is timely to remind all Australians that war and conflict is still with us today.
“Australians are still being called on to serve in areas of conflict, and it is Legacy’s role to help the families affected,” Mr Woolford said.
