Rugby raises funds for Canberra hospital

NUSHIP Canberra personnel visited Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital (PatCH) on 16 September 2013 to join the ACT Veterans Rugby Club in presenting to the PatCH Foundation a $1,000 donation from local Canberra based company iCognition.

Personnel from HMAS Stirling and Fleet Base West ported ships showed their support for Life Education’s 'Ocsober' by participating in a 24-hour spin bike marathon at the Fleet Base West gymnasium over 19 -20 September.

CPO Dion McCrabb, Executive Officer HMAS Cerberus CMDR Mike Oborn, Healthy Harold and the Cerberus Ocsober co-ordinator LEUT Melissa Lindsay launch the HMAS Cerberus 12 hour Ocsober swim challenge.

Sailors from HMAS Cerberus dived into the launch of Ocsober in Victoria. Around 300 swimmers took the plunge for a good cause, taking part in a continuous 12 hour swimming relay.

The Chief of Navy recently reminded Navy people that violence against women is a significant issue that required all sectors of the Australian community to take action to prevent. Because of its importance, Navy participates in 'White Ribbon' - a male led movement to end violence against women.
