As part of the Australian Defence Force’s commitment to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 – Women Peace and Security – personnel on operations in the Middle East have marked the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.

ScanEagle, an unmmanned aerial vehicle launches from the flight deck of HMAS Newcastle during operational evaluation trials.

While she may be the last Australian guided missile frigate to deploy to Operation MANITOU, HMAS Newcastle is the first to deploy on operations with an MH60R helicopter and a ScanEagle Unmanned Aerial System.
