The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) has launched a national ballot for a world voyage in 2015 by the Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour.

5.6 tonnes of cannabis resin, intercepted from a dhow in the Middle East Region, is counted on the flight deck of HMAS Toowoomba during Operation Manitou.

A combined Australian and New Zealand operation conducted 260 km off the coast of Africa has seized more than 5.6 tonnes of cannabis resin, worth an estimated $280 million (AUD).

Petty Officer Marine Technician Michael Fagg of the Royal Australian Navy School of Survivability and Ship Safety Training Facility (South) at HMAS Cerberus, has been awarded the Bradley Meek Perpetual Shield, recognising him as the most outstanding Combat Survivability Instructor at the school for 2013.

It’s a part of life at sea that you wouldn’t usually see on a major fleet unit: Sailors performing Officer of the Watch tricks at the rank of Leading Seaman, and chefs forming an integral part of a busy boarding team - it’s multi-tasking at its best.

Despite Navy’s small presence in South Australia, two employers of local Navy Reservists were recognised for their support of the Australian Defence Force Reserves at the recent Defence Reserve Support Council – South Australia Employer Support Awards.
