Kris ‘Blue’ Skimmings from Ravenshoe Tablelands in Far North Queensland is an Ex-Chief Petty Officer Naval Police Coxswain who completed 20 years service in the RAN in 1991.

Royal Australian Navy personnel found themselves surrounded by a different sea of blue last week when they took part in the national Jeans for Genes Day to raise funds for research into childhood disease.

Mine Hunter HMAS Gascoyne has continued her south west Pacific deployment, arriving in Nuku’alofa, Tonga after a four day transit through unrelenting seas from Vanuatu.

The Royal Hobart Regatta has been staged annually for the past 175 years without a break, apart from 1967 when disastrous bush fires in southern Tasmania caused its last minute cancellation. The Royal Australian Navy and its predecessors has supported this event every year since its inception in 1838.

One thousand officers and sailors from the Royal Australian Navy establishments HMAS Creswell and HMAS Albatross marched through the streets of Nowra today, exercising their ‘Freedom of Entry’ into the city.

The Jazz Ensemble from the Royal Australian Navy Band – Tasmanian Detachment in action at Hot August Jazz Festival in Hobart.

Elizabeth Street, North Hobart, is one of Tasmania's favourite restaurant and dining strips. On Sunday, 25 August, that strip became Tassie’s ‘New Orleans’ as jazz bands took over many of the neighbourhood cafés, restaurants, pubs and even the local Uniting Church.
