The Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Anzac sailed in early December with almost 252 family and friends embarked for a family sea day - the ship’s way of saying thanks to those special to them for their support in 2014 and into 2015.

A shark is about to be freed from an illegal longline by Royal Australian Navy personnel embarked on HMAS Huon on November 25th 2014.

Navy personnel have come to the rescue of sharks trapped in abandoned longlines recently, whilst on patrol east of Ashmore Island.

HMAS Bundaberg was decommissioned from Royal Australian Navy service at a small ceremony in HMAS Cairns on 18 December.

Outgoing Commanding Officer HMAS Anzac Commander Matthew Doornbos passes the weight of command, signified by a casting of a WWI slouch hat, to new Commanding Officer Commander Belinda Wood.

After two years in a command that encompassed four Anzac class frigates, Commander Matthew Doornbos handed over command of HMAS Anzac to Commander Belinda Wood at a ceremony held alongside Sydney’s Fleet Base East last week.
