Rain did not deter friends and families who waited patiently at Fleet Base West to welcome home HMAS Sirius recently following a busy seven month deployment.

Commander Ashley Papp hands over the weight of HMAS Choules to Commander Chris Aulmann in Brisbane, Queensland.

On 15 November, a bright sunny day in Brisbane, Commander Ashley Papp relinquished command of HMAS Choules, handing the weight to Commander Chris Aulmann. The handover of the 'weight' symbolises the transfer of the responsibility of command.

Leading Seaman Aviation Support Matthew Dufty marshals a MRH90 Taipan helicopter onto the flight deck of NUSHIP Canberra.

On November 26, the first two Navy aircraft landed aboard what was then NUSHIP Canberra, alongside Fleet Base East, Sydney in the build up to the ship’s commissioning.

Two World War II era aircraft bombs, secured onto a Royal Australian Navy Barge, await transport to a deep sea disposal site off the coast of Bougainville, during Operation RENDER SAFE 14.

Navy divers have lent their expertise to Operation RENDER SAFE this year forming an integral part of the tri-service Amphibious Task Group that were responding to the dangerous legacy of unexploded ordinance located in Torokina, Bougainville Island.

HMAS Toowoomba completed a successful Operation MANITOU maritime security deployment to the Middle East Region on 13 December and is now heading home to Perth.
