Leading Seaman Amelia Bivolcheff discusses Navy with some interested people at the Sandy Bay Regatta, Tasmania.

Perfect weather attracted record crowds to Australia Day celebrations around Tasmania and the Royal Australian Navy was there to wave the flag at two of the island state’s largest events, A Day on the Beach in Kingston and the annual Sandy Bay Regatta.

Navy came within a whisker of winning the 2nd annual King’s Cup basketball championship but were beaten 43-40 by a combined Air Force and Army team.

Leading Seaman Physical Trainer Steve McWilliams referees one of the volleyball games during the HMAS Stirling Monthly Sports Challenge.

The first round of the inaugural monthly sports challenge competition was held last week at HMAS Stirling. In order to bring together people from the many lodger units at the Navy's large West Australian base, the physical training instructors at Stirling designed a competition comprising of a different sporting event each month.

Preparations are well underway for the 2014 Australian Defence Football Federation National Futsal Carnival to be held at University of Sydney on Saturday 1st March.

This weekend the Navy Australian Surf Rowers League (Navy ASRL) will culminate in an action packed weekend at the 2014 Navy Australian Open, to be held at Stockton, Newcastle.

Greenies united, Petty Officer Tapan from the Bangladesh Navy and Leading Seaman Joshua Hobbs meet at the official welcoming ceremony as HMAS Childers comes alongside Chittagong.

In an historically significant moment, a Royal Australian Navy ship has visited Bangladesh. HMAS Childers, an Armidale class Patrol Boat, pulled alongside the Port of Chittagong to the welcoming sound of the Bangladesh Navy Band and as soon as the gangway was across, local school children presented the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Christopher Brough, RAN with fresh flowers.

Last week, the ship’s company of HMAS Choules held a clear lower deck to witness the award of the Spada Shield and the Pakistan Shield (Major).
