Six Navy members attached to HS Red, currently embarked in HMAS Leeuwin, were recently deployed to an uninhabited island to erect and maintain a tidal and boat camp as part of the ship's survey deployment to Papua New Guinea.

Family and friends wave goodbye as HMAS Darwin pulls away from the wharf at Garden Island, Sydney.

It was a perfect Sydney day on 30 December as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull joined Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, friends and family at Garden Island, to farewell HMAS Darwin as the ship sailed for the Middle East region.

Over 118 kilograms of heroin with a street value of AUD $114 million was confisicated by HMAS Melbourne while on operations in the Middle East region. These drugs were discovered onboard a fishing vessel intercepted by HMAS Melbourne in the Indian Ocean. After being seized the illegal narcotics were transferred to HMAS Melbourne for analysis and disposal at sea.

HMAS Melbourne personnel have completed a fourth successful drug seizure after seizing more than 100 kilograms of heroin from a fishing vessel in the Indian Ocean.

HMAS Melbourne has struck a third time against the trafficking of narcotics in the Middle East confiscating another 216 kilograms of high-grade heroin worth an estimated $64 million.

Australia has assumed command of Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) as part of Operation MANITOU in the Middle East Region after a Transition of Authority from the Pakistan Navy.

Members of the Ship's Company in HMAS Melbourne inspect 151 kilograms of heroin discovered in a fishing dhow off the east African coast.

HMAS Melbourne has seized another 151 kilograms of heroin, worth an estimated $AUD44.5 million, from a dhow off the east coast of Africa.
