HMAS Tobruk has completed its mission in the Philippines and is returning to Australia with a load of Army engineer machinery, vehicles and 35 Army personnel.

Commodore Daryl Bates has assumed command of Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) from Commodore Asif Khaliq of the Pakistan Navy on 1 December at a ceremony on board the Pakistan Navy Ship Shahjahan in Bahrain.

A joint agency operation targeting illegal foreign fishing in the Torres Strait has led to the apprehension of seven illegal foreign fishing boats from Papua New Guinea and the return of almost one tonne of live sea cucumbers to Warrior Reef.

A Filipino-born sailor has returned to the Philippines aboard HMAS Tobruk to assist with the Australian Defence Force’s Operation PHILIPPINES ASSIST clean-up effort at Ormoc, Leyte.

Officers and sailors from HMAS Tobruk help clean up a local Ormoc school as part of the Australian Disaster relief effort for Operation PHILIPPINES ASSIST.

As the recovery operation continues, the crew of HMAS Tobruk eagerly put their hands up for a number of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) tasks around Ormoc over the weekend of 30 November-1 December.
