The submarine intervention gear ship MV Besant in Cockburn Sound approaching Fleet Base West in Western Australia.

The latest enhancement to Navy's submarine search and rescue capability steamed into her new home at Fleet Base West, Rockingham, Western Australia recently. As one of two ships being acquired to further enhance the capability, MV BESANT will be the submarine escape gear ship.

Royal Thai Navy ship HTMS Bangpakong and HMAS Perth in company during their deployment to South East Asia.

Before HMAS Perth joined Exercise TALISMAN SABRE, she conducted a successful deployment South East Asia including two port visits in quick succession to Sattahip, Thailand and Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

HMAS Sirius embarked a Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV)

HMAS Sirius embarked a Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) "Barracuda" for trials with a High Speed Inflatable Towed Target (HSITT). Over the week Barracuda was embarked, HMAS Sirius, HMAS Perth, and HMAS Arunta all condcuted 5 inch and 12.7mm firings on the target. Barracuda provides ship's with the ability to conduct practice firings against a towed target without the need for support from ashore.

HMAS Sirius is currently providing replenishment support as part of Exercise TALISMAN SABRE on the back of successful trials of a new high-speed inflatable towed target system with an unmanned boat.

The forecastle party on HMAS Huon prepare to depart HMAS Waterhen for a three month Operation Resolute rotation.

HMAS Huon departed HMAS Waterhen in Sydney recently to head north on a three-month deployment in support of border protection duties as part of Operation RESOLUTE. Family and friends gathered on the wharf and waved good-bye to see her off.

Petty Officer Electronics Technician David Jackson accepts the Otranio Shield on behalf of HMAS Arunta from the Commander Surface Force, Commodore Lee Goddard, CSC, RAN.

A year of hard work paid off for the crew of HMAS Arunta recently when they were awarded the Otranto Shield for the highest standards of gunnery and the Action Information Organisation Shield award for the highest standard of tactical information dissemination throughout the fleet in 2014.
