Brendan and Chris Frier were back in winning form in their Team Navy Offshore Superboat in the final round of the Australian Championships held on 30 November in Hervey Bay, Queensland.

Prime Minister of Australia, The Honourable Tony Abbott, MP, is given a tour by Commander David Walter onboard NUSHIP Canberra before the commissioning ceremony, Fleet Base East, Sydney.

Last Friday, while most of HMAS Canberra’s ship’s company dressed in their white ceremonial uniforms to take part in the commissioning ceremony, 24 members of the crew remained in their everyday working rig, ready to respond in the case of an emergency.

Head of the Australian Defence Force delegation, Captain Michael Harris, RAN, discusses lessons from the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 to approximately 50 personnel from China, New Zealand and Australia as part of Exercise COOPERATION SPIRIT 2014 in Nanjing, China.

A 15-person Australian and New Zealand combined military and civilian delegation has participated in tri-lateral humanitarian and disaster relief exercise, COOPERATION SPIRIT, in China recently. It offered the three countries the opportunity to build a better understanding of the multi-national response that each country is likely to bring to humanitarian and disaster relief and search and rescue operations.

When Captain Lee Goddard handed over the 'weight' of command to Captain Ivan Ingham recently, the ceremony marked a significant turning point in the career for the outgoing HMAS Perth Commanding Officer.

After months of preparation, HMAS Success departed Garden Island, Sydney this week for a six-month deployment to the Middle East Region and during the ceremony Santa made a surprise visit to join family and friends to farewell the ship.

808 Squadron's MRH-90 helicopter conducts water bombing drills with the attached Bambi Bucket, in preparation for the fire season in the Shoalhaven area.

The Royal Australian Navy is preparing for the coming bushfire season with MRH90 helicopters and crews are currently training to use the underslung 'Bambi bucket' for water bombing operations.

Officer In Charge of the Royal Australian Navy Dive School, Lieutenant Commander Russ Crawford CSC, RAN, and Officer In Charge of the Submarine and Underwater Medicine Unit, Lieutenant Commander Joel Hissink, RAN, are the first to jump into the refurbished RAN Diving Training Facility Pool at HMAS Penguin.

As the former commanding officer of Navy's dive school, a mine clearance diver and member of the SAS, Commodore Russ Baker (retired) has many stories to tell about the old pool at HMAS Penguin.
