Friers Offshore Racing’s ‘Team Navy’ Transport Logistics Manager, Stephen Turner is used to hauling precious cargo - but instead of moving the ‘Team Navy’ Australian Championship Offshore Superboat this weekend, he’ll transport little Mackay Champion, Declan Roughsedge, in the annual ‘Konvoy 4 Kids’.

A team from HMAS Coonawarra will hit the road on 31 August in support of the Northern Territory Variety Bash, which will raise funds to empower Northern Territory children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.

Kris ‘Blue’ Skimmings from Ravenshoe Tablelands in Far North Queensland is an Ex-Chief Petty Officer Naval Police Coxswain who completed 20 years service in the RAN in 1991.

The Royal Hobart Regatta has been staged annually for the past 175 years without a break, apart from 1967 when disastrous bush fires in southern Tasmania caused its last minute cancellation. The Royal Australian Navy and its predecessors has supported this event every year since its inception in 1838.
