On 4 July, Commander Jeffrey Booker achieved fifty years of service in the Royal Australian Navy and on 10 December he was presented with his third Federation Star by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett.

Staff and cadets from Australian Navy Cadet units Australia, Hawkesbury and Sirius joined HMAS Melbourne in December for a day of fun and education about life at sea.
