Guests watch the guard of honour and Royal Australian Navy Band - Sydney Detachment during a ceremonial sunset held at HMAS Penguin.

On 24 January 2014, Commander Paul Gall assumed command of HMAS Penguin, in Sydney, and since that point it has been all hands on deck. Penguin being heavily involved with the community, participated in a large number of community engagement events throughout the year.

Only three days into tasking on Operation MANITOU and while transiting the North Arabian Sea, South East of Oman, HMAS Success rendered medical assistance to an Iranian fishing vessel.

Leading Seaman Marine Technician Joel Minichiello in the Cargo Control Room onboard HMAS Success during a Replenishment at Sea with HMS Kent while in the Middle East Region as part of Operation MANITOU.

HMAS Success has again proved her worth as part of the Combined Maritime Forces in the Middle East Region, by conducting a replenishment at sea with HMS Kent of the Royal Navy on 10 January.

HMAS Sydney's Commanding Officer, Commander Brian Schlegel, RAN, and Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander Andrew Hough stand with nearly two tonnes of hashish on the ship's flight deck. The drug haul was a result of a successful counter-narcotics operation in the Middle East Area of Operations.

Both the Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer of a Navy ship have been recognised for their outstanding leadership during a deployment to the Middle East region in 2013-14.
