The Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, AO, RAN has personally congratulated the crew of HMAS Success on her final deployment before decommissioning in June.

Vice Admiral Noonan flew from HMAS Canberra to Success to speak to crew and dine with the junior sailors as the INDO-PACIFIC ENDEAVOUR 2019 (IPE19) joint task force departed Singapore.

“This ship has been in our Navy for as long as I have,” Vice Admiral Noonan said.

“After more than 30 years, Success is in as good a shape now as she has ever been and I congratulate each and every one of you for the role you are playing in keeping this ship running the way she is.”

The ship’s leading hand, Leading Seaman Khory Beezley, said it meant a lot to the sailors.

“We have a great team on Success and it is very important for the hard work and dedication of the men and women who serve on her to be recognised and acknowledged like this,” Leading Seaman Beezley said.

Success’ Commanding Officer Captain Darren Grogan said it was no accident the ship had performed well.

“I am very proud of my officers and sailors – they are serving this organisation well and every day they go above and beyond to ensure this ship operates at the top of her game,” Captain Grogan said.
