Lieutenant Luke Le Grand has become Navy’s first ever Scientific Research Officer, posted to the Army led Australian Defence Force Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute at Gallipoli Barracks, Brisbane. The institute is a world-recognised centre for malaria research and training, with a mission to ensure that Australian Defence Force personnel have the best possible protection against malaria and other vector-borne diseases.

Chief Petty Officer Communications Information Systems Alan “Nobby” Clark has closed the door on his illustrious 38-year Permanent Navy career. A familiar face to anyone who has spent time at HMAS Stirling and in ships based at Fleet Base West, Chief Clark will still occasionally be around the base in a Reserve capacity.

International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8th March, is the global day recognising the economic, political and social achievements of women. For women in the Navy who make up approximately 21% of the full-time RAN workforce, it is not just another day at sea or ashore but also a day to take pride in their duties and reflect on their role in Navy.
