The staff at Naval Headquarters - South Queensland don't usually undertake work to the sounds of revving engines - but on 1 March, to assist with Team Navy's support to the 2016 Motocross season, the base was a haven for motorsport fans.

Navy has a branding alliance with National Pump and Energy Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing through the Team Navy concept.

Team Navy embraces Australian sporting champions who exemplify the five core values of the Royal Australian Navy – Honour, Honesty, Courage, Integrity and Loyalty.

The motocross team’s new bikes, riders and livery were unveiled against a backdrop of Royal Australian Navy sailors in Brisbane.

The partnership between one of Australia’s most renowned and accomplished racing teams and Team Navy offers a perfect synergy, as both thrive and succeed as a result of youthful, dynamic and driven team members.

Team Rider Matt Moss was excited by the partnership and appreciated the work the Navy is currently undertaking.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to get up close with the guys from navy through this partnership,” Mr Moss said.

“We had fun with the sailors who were here today and we also appreciate they get to play with some pretty heavy machinery.

“We were hoping to be onboard HMAS Canberra today, but she is on her way to Fiji to assist with disaster relief following the cyclone,” he said.

Motocross team members and Navy personnel also had the opportunity to step into each others shoes during the launch.

Riders had time to speak with sailors about the different roles they perform within the Navy and service personnel were able to compare their experiences with another high performance team.

Midshipman Corey Burton, is a recreational rider himself and was impressed with display.

“These guys are at the top of their game and it’s pretty impressive to watch their team at work,” Midshipman Burton said.
