Leading Seaman Lynzey Lake receives Commendation from Commanding Officer HMAS Watson, Captain William Martin.

In an already busy week for Maritime Logistics - Personnel sailor Lynzey Lake, she received a commendation and was promoted to Petty Officer within five minutes of one another.

In June 2013, Petty Officer Lake deployed to Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates to work as part of the Force Support Unit, supporting Operation SLIPPER in the Middle East Area of Operations.

During her time with the Force Support Unit, Petty Officer Lake led the team responsible for processing and managing the pay and entitlements of all Australian Defence Force personnel, at sea and ashore, deployed in support of the operation.

During her tenure as Pay and Entitlements Calculator Team Leader within the Theatre Personnel Support Centre, Petty Officer Lake and her team achieved a record low number of errors in processing the pay and entitlements of deployed members, making a highly positive contribution to the operational capability and welfare of Australian Defence Force members throughout the Middle East Area of Operations.

In recognition of her exemplary performance, Commander Joint Task Force 633, Major-General Craig Orme, AM, CSC awarded Petty Officer Lake with a Commander Joint Task Force 633 Bronze Commendation.

The Commendation and promotion were both presented to Petty Officer Lake this week by her current Commanding Officer, Captain Will Martin of HMAS Watson.

“It was easy to see why this outstanding sailor was being promoted in minimum time, as immediately before promoting her, I had the privilege of presenting her with the CJTF 633 Commendation,” Captain Martin said.

“She clearly has a bright future," he added.
