Indonesian studies boost ties

Two Royal Australian Navy officers have spent the past five months improving their understanding of Indonesia’s language and culture as part of an exchange program with the Australian Defence Force Academy.

For the first time in the Southern Hemisphere, an Australian Defence Force operational gender adviser course was conducted by Headquarters Joint Operations Command at the Peace Keeping Operational Training Centre at the Australian Defence Force Academy in June.

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) held its graduation parade on Thursday December 10, 2015. 240 officer cadets and midshipmen graduated from their military training and tertiary education at the Academy.

In one of his final ceremonial tasks as Deputy Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Michael van Balen AO, RAN, presented Midshipman Dean Gilbert, with the Chief of Navy Prize at the Australian Defence Force Academy Graduation Parade on 10 December.
