Able Seaman Boatswains Mate, Natasha Mailei at her grandafther's home during a visit to the village of Tuana'i in Samoa.

One sailor on board HMAS Sirius had the unique opportunity to visit her grandfather while in Samoa recently, returning to his home in the small village of Tuana’i for the first time in 12 years.

A short port visit to Hobart over the period 18-20 June 2019 provided six members of HMAS Sirius the opportunity to visit friends and family and show off their home state to their shipmates.

Makenzie, Max and Madelin wait for dad, Leading Seaman Electronics Technician Mathew Gilgen, to come off the ship as HMAS Sirius returns home to Fleet Base West after departing in August last year.

The 8th of May would have had a big circle around it on the calendars of many families of HMAS Sirius’ ship’s company, as that was the day the ship returned to her homeport at Fleet Base West after nine months away.

HMAS Sirius has reached a significant milestone, having recently completed her 600th replenishment at sea (RAS), in waters off Northern Australia, with HMAS Stuart the lucky recipient.

HMA Ships Stuart and Sirius have joined the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) corvettes RSS Valiant and Vigour for Exercise SINGAROO, a two day maritime exercise in waters off Singapore.

HMAS Sirius achieved an important milestone recently when she successfully completed Replenishment at Sea (RAS) number 576 by supplying fuel to Arleigh-Burke class destroyer USS Michael Murphy during her transit to Exercise KAKADU 2018.

There were banners, tears and hugs on Diamantina Wharf at Fleet Base West on August 22 as HMA Ships Sirius and Stuart headed off on deployment.
