Defence Material Organisation General Manager—Submarines, Mr David Gould and Chief Executive Officer ASC, Mr Steve Ludlum participated in an overnight sea ride on HMAS Sheean over 24/25 June 2013. The purpose of the sea ride was to familiarise themselves with life onboard the Collins Class Submarine through an ‘at sea’ experience.

Mr Ludlum were invited by Commander Submarines, Captain Mark Potter, RAN, to give the broader Collins Class Submarine community a greater appreciation of the end state of their collective hard work and effort in supporting Australian submarines.

VIP sea rides occur when operational tempos permit in order to increase the level of knowledge and understanding that military and civilian personnel have in regards to the submarine's capabilities and the environment in which Royal Australian Navy submariners work.
