Twenty serving Navy personnel have been recognised for awards in the Australia Day 2018 Honours List. They are among 895 award recipients approved by The Governor-General and Chancellor of the Order of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd).

HMAS Leeuwin hosted the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Australia Day citizenship ceremony in Port Adelaide, welcoming new Aussies with Minister for Defence Industry the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, and Lieutenant Commander Adam Muckalt.

Royal Australian Navy people spent time on Australia Day getting out into the community. From flag raising ceremonies to an Open Day, the Navy helped celebrate Australia and show how proud all Navy members are to protect Australia’s lifestyle and freedoms.

RADM Greg Sammut's Navy career, from command of HMAS Farncomb and HMA Ships Ballarat and Toowoomba, to leadership of the Future Submarine Program, have been recognised with the presentation of an Order of Australia (Military Division) medal in last week's Australia Day honours.

Greg Sammut had a long held ambition to join the Royal Australian Navy straight out of high school in 1984.
