During recent operations with Commander Task Force 151, HMAS Newcastle planned and conducted Focused Operation SOUTHERN LOOK, an international maritime engagement operation in the Gulf of Aden.

On 13 August in the Arabian Sea, HMAS Newcastle reaffirmed an old friendship with the British replenishment ship, RFA Fort Victoria.

POEW sailor Shannon Evans closed up as upper deck sentry on the flight deck of HMAS Melbourne, with an F88 Steyr rifle, loaded with blank ammunition during a force protection assessment.

With a pipe from the Executive Officer it was all over. The ship and its company had passed the final assessment that began with a Mariner Skills Evaluation back in March and culminated in September with a final Force Protection assessment alongside Diamantina Pier, HMAS Stirling, WA.

HMAS Ballarat leaves stern first from Fleet Base East, Sydney, for a three month deployment to South East Asia.

Without fanfare, HMAS Ballarat departed Fleet Base East early on 5 August 2013 to conduct some additional warfare training before commencing a three month South East Asian and Operation RESOLUTE deployment, following almost a month of intense Unit Readiness Workups.
