Commanding Officer HMAS Arunta, Commander Cameron Steil, RAN, welcomes Chief of Staff - Headquarters Joint Task Force 633, Group Captain Nathan Christie aboard HMAS Arunta during a visit to Muscat, Oman.

Staff from Headquarters Joint Task Force 633 recently joined HMAS Arunta in Muscat, Oman, for a day of briefings prior to Arunta commencing operations in the Middle East region.

Led by the Chief of Staff of the Joint Task Force, Group Captain Nathan Christie, the briefings covered operational matters, logistics, medical and personnel administration.

The day commenced with a welcome to theatre from Group Captain Christie followed by a series of briefs and table top discussions between headquarters staff and ship's company.

Arunta’s Deputy Maritime Logistics Officer Lieutenant Shannelle McKellar found the visit a great opportunity to meet her headquarters counterparts.

“This visit was a great opportunity to start building relationships that will help immensely throughout the deployment,” Lieutenant McKellar said.

“It helped me to put a face to the people I deal with by email on a day to day basis.”

The visit was seen as an effective way to establish a two-way dialogue between Arunta and the headquarters that she will be working under during her deployment.
