Six Navy members attached to HS Red, currently embarked in HMAS Leeuwin, were recently deployed to an uninhabited island to erect and maintain a tidal and boat camp as part of the ship's survey deployment to Papua New Guinea.

HMAS Leeuwin arrived in Port Moresby, in late October for a five week surveying task to chart waters in the eastern part of Papua New Guinea.

The first Royal Australian Navy ship to visit Fiji since 2006 has completed a six day port visit to Suva.

An Australian Transport Safety Bureau report has found that two Navy crews displayed ‘professionalism and skill’ while saving merchant sailors from the sea at Christmas Island in 2012.
